Every time someone comes to me for weight loss counselling, I can almost
predict the first question that will come within a week’s time- “Why is the
number on the weighing scale not dropping fast enough?”
As a nutritionist, I understand this eagerness. We live in a world where quick
results are celebrated and patience often takes a back seat. But over the years, I
have learned that true weight loss happens gradually with internal healing.
When I begin working with someone, my first focus is not the weighing scale.
Instead, I look deeper- at their gut health, hormonal balance, physical activity,
lifestyle patterns, sleep quality and stress levels. Because the truth is simple: if
your internal systems are not functioning well, no diet in the world can give you
sustainable results.
This is the phase where many people feel impatient. The scale may not show
dramatic changes immediately. But inside the body, something powerful is
happening. The system is being corrected. Nutrient absorption is improving.
Energy levels begin to rise. Sleep becomes better. The body slowly shifts from a
state of imbalance to alignment.
And then, gradually, weight loss begins- naturally and sustainably.
What I love most about this approach is the transformation it brings. Unlike
crash diets or extreme calorie restrictions, this method does not leave a person
feeling weak, dull or drained. Instead, they glow. Their skin looks healthier,
their energy improves and their strength is maintained. Along with weight loss-
they are becoming healthier versions of themselves.
This is what I call the correct way of weight loss. Not just a drop in numbers,
but a holistic transformation.
I often tell my clients- it is far better to lose weight slowly and sustain it, than to
lose it quickly and gain it back even faster. Rapid weight loss often comes at the
cost of muscle loss, poor nutrient absorption and long-term damage to
metabolism. And most importantly, it is rarely sustainable.
So, if you are on a weight loss journey, I want you to remember this: trust the
process. Give your body the time it needs to heal. The weight loss will happen.
Because real success is not just about losing weight- it is about gaining health,
strength and balance that lasts a lifetime.
